Course Description

Overview

Engineering Design Management course provides a comprehensive engineering education combined with specialist engineering design and management knowledge recognized in the professional engineering community. The course ensures that graduates are equipped with the appropriate knowledge and enterprising spirit to practice professionally and proficiently. Subsequently, the program is based on deep knowledge advancement in mathematics, science, information technology, design, business, and engineering practice.

The main objective of this course is to produce graduates who can integrate the principles and applications of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering, and apply them to the design of products and systems across the engineering sector.

The EdHat IHD in Engineering Design Management qualification provides deep and practical knowledge to the students. While focusing particularly on the mechanical engineering stream a detailed understanding of the principles of electrical and electronics engineering, thus enabling the rational selection of the most appropriate technology mix to solve engineering design problems.

The EdHat IHD qualification in Engineering Design management provides the learner necessary competencies in engineering design and other relevant techniques, practices and management skills required to perform successfully in the industry. This course is designed for full time learners and provides progression into or within employment in the field of engineering either directly on achieving the EdHat IHD award or following further study to degree level. The EdHat IHD program provides opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge and practical skills in engineering field.

Entry Requirements

Programs of EdHat International Higher Diploma are designed particularly for those students who have recently been in education with an entry profile as follows:

Relevant NQF Level 3 qualifications or

  • An access to Higher Education certificate awarded by an approved Further Education institution or equivalent.
  • EdHat International Higher Diploma programs may also be accessed by those with previous relevant learning and/or work experience. In such cases the entry profile may include:
  • Accreditation of Prior Certified Learning (APCL) which gives recognition to learning which has been formally assessed and for which a certificate has been awarded other than those listed above; or
  • Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) which gives recognition to knowledge and skills developed through different types of experience, such as work and voluntary activities. Mature students may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience.
