Course Description

Overview

The International Higher Diploma in Tourism, program provides students with the vocational skills required to secure a highly successful career in tourism management.
Throughout the course, students will focus on developing their employability skills and industry knowledge with exciting field study within the country where your study center resides, internships and placements as well as a range of supporting lectures and tutorials to provide the academic under pinning.

Learning will be reinforced by core skills development focusing on management and leadership, an in depth understanding of contemporary issues and their relationship with tourism, as well as global hospitality and guest service which are central to the
industry. The program offers exciting internship opportunities for you to gain practical experience within the local or international Hospitality & tourism industry. Links with leading employers, ensure that the program focuses on cutting edge
industry skills to prepare you for success. Students are expected to be active in managing their learning experience, to be creative and to take initiative to develop themselves.

On graduating, students from this program have a successful track in securing a range of management and operational positions within the Hospitality & Tourism Industry locally as well as UK wide and globally. Specialist career pathways include
Tourism Management, Tourism Marketing, Heritage Management, Attraction Management, Event Management, Hotel Management, and Travel Management or they are eligible to enter in to graduate top up programs, in the discipline of Tourism
and Hospitality.

This qualification is suitable for both students who aged between 16 – 24 and also adults candidates.

Entry Requirements

Programs of EdHat International Higher Diploma are designed particularly for those students who have recently been in education with an entry profile as follows:

Relevant NQF Level 3 qualifications or

  • An access to Higher Education certificate awarded by an approved Further Education institution or equivalent.
  • EdHat International Higher Diploma programs may also be accessed by those with previous relevant learning and/or work experience. In such cases the entry profile may include:
  • Accreditation of Prior Certified Learning (APCL) which gives recognition to learning which has been formally assessed and for which a certificate has been awarded other than those listed above; or
  • Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) which gives recognition to knowledge and skills developed through different types of experience, such as work and voluntary activities. Mature students may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience.
